TRUST
even when it seems the odds are against, there is God who i can fully depend upon.
he’s proven in my history in creation and in His word that he is faithful.
that he answers my prayers. not in small ways, not barely making it, but always beyond what i
could have hoped or imagined.
down to the smallest detail. to the point of it being the answer to a glimpse of a thought. what could have been a half formed prayer.
sometimes we need to remind ourselves of how worthy God is of our trust.
last night i looked outside our lounge room window as there was a commotion in the back yard. One of the kids had found a barely dead possum by the pool, looking like it had come off second best in a fight against something stronger. at first i was going to wrap it up and throw it in the trash but given the distraught state of my 6 year old daughter i decided to do what any good dad would have done and give it a proper burial.
in the corner of the yard i covered over the last of the dirt, Immi weeping uncontrollably next to me and the boys talking about blowing it up
prayers were said.. thanksgiving for animal heaven.. a couple moments of silence
then we went and had our dinner.
the whole parade was for the sake of my daughter to process it all… i couldn’t think of anything to pray by the shallow possum grave, but i quickly made something up and found myself saying something like
‘thanks that nothing falls to the ground without You seeing. that life is in Your hands…You watch the sparrow and the possum, and you watch our lives. every detail.
that God is found in the detail is an Infinite Comfort. that even when it feels like he has withdrawn,
or he is silent
the truth is He never does.
He will never leave us or forsake us
we dont have to understand whats going on, to trust.
if we will pitch our sails and lean into the wind he will carry us.
he who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
